The prevalance and radiographic evaluation of mandibular second premolar migration: A retrospective study

Purpose:To investigate the prevalence and radiographic characteristics of migrated mandibular second premolars byusing panoramic radiography.Materials & Methods:The previously taken 27758 radiographs were evaluated regarding determining theprevalence premolar migration. Thirty-six excluded from study due to notproviding inclusion criteria. 27722 retrospectively by same operator. In diagnosisof teeth, features demographic recorded.Results:Nine teeth detected in evaluation all (%0.03). The meanage cases was 37 years. All impacted, unilateral average distance between normaland location 41 mm. most migration case (in 6 case) absence first permanent molar tooth wasobserved.Conclusion:It is concluded that, if are not located at physiologic position on thedental arch, a examination should be recommended view jaws related structures.Early detection dental may beneficial prevent possible further complications.
